He has two post graduation degrees in Sanskrit and Indian Philosophies apart from a traditional degree in Nyaya Philosophy. He has been awarded Ph.D by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan Deemed University, New Delhi for his research thesis on “Knowledge Representation of Navya Nyaya and western logic”. He has done a two years research program in NLP in IIIT-Hyd. Born in the year 1973 in Vijapur, Karnataka, Veeranarayana Pandurangi studied at Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha obtaining Vidvat degrees in Navyanyaya and Dvaitavedanta and MA from Karnataka State Open University, Mysore. He has Ph.D. in Dvaitavedanta from Rashtriya Samskrit Sansthan, New Delhi and Ph.D. in Nyaya from Rashtriya Samskrit Vidyapeeth, Tirupati. He worked as researcher in French Institute of Pondicherry between 1999-2005, Acharya, Rashtriya Samskrit Vidyapeeth, Tirupati, and Associate Professor in Department of Darshanas, JR Rajasthan Samskrit University, Jaipur where he was the head of the department and dean of Darshan Faculty. There will be coursework for the first six months, which includes study of Research Methodology. A dissertation in chosen subject has to be prepared in the next six months. They are Teaching wing, Research wing, Publication wing and Administrative wing through which the university has to be dynamically active. It is necessary to promote the activities related to Sanskrit in Karnataka through such academic efforts. Research should be the result of our wisdom or consciousness. This would result in indigenous thinking. Hence the main intention of the SamskritUniversity should be to establish a symbiotic relationship between ancient and modern knowledge. Sanskrit should be nurtured in the harmony of both. The half yearly journal titled ‘Karnataka Samskritadhyayanam’ is modeled on these foundations. In order to promote research and scholars from Karnataka, Samskrit University is bringing out this research journal. The present has no value without the knowledge of the past. The values of tomorrow will have no value without the understanding of the present. We should revive Sanskrit in the light of these aspects. - Samskrit Book awardsSamskrit Book Awards Karnataka Samskrit University has been established by the government of Karnataka for strengthening Samskrit education and research in Karnataka. Along with conducting examinations and conferring degrees, the University has initiated several projects for development and upliftment of Samskrit in the state. One such project is the ‘Samskrit Book Award’ project. Background and Objective Samskrit writing and publication in Karnataka has a long history. Even today, a number of scholars in Karnataka are engaged in producing literary works in various formats such as prose and poetry. Many young scholars have also exhibited talent in writing. However, despite the considerable contribution of these authors to Samskrit literature, there is no encouragement provided to them at the state level. Karnataka Samskrit University wishes to felicitate and encourage contemporary Samskrit writing through the ‘Samskrit Book Awards’. The award will include certificate and ten thousand rupees in cash. Literary categories to be considered for the award Samskrit literature is of a great variety. In addition, several new types of writing have been added by modern writers, willing to experiment under the influence of other modern regional languages.
